MINDFUL LIVING

MINDFUL LIVING

International Yoga Day is a reminder that it is indeed possible to live a healthy life and with face yoga it is possible to keep oneself looking youthful

By RUKMA SALUJA

Yoga needs little introduction. With an International Yoga Day now on the calendar, gigabytes are being used up, and we at PRAVASI Indians are adding to the usage of virtual space.

Yoga is for general wellbeing and it helps correct and improve certain specific conditions. Yes, we know that, you might say. You might even have heard of Face Yoga. It might be worth your while to actually try it. Face Yoga helps tighten the skin, uplift sagging jowls, erase (it is claimed) the fine lines around the eyes, or crow’s feet as they are called, ease the creases or the frown lines on the forehead. In short it is an anti-ageing regimen without that battery of unguents pushed at us by the mammoth cosmetic industry. Youth being the fount of all things nice from ‘young talent’ and ‘young blood’ required in various industries to the dating and romance aspects of life, we become slaves to our night creams and anti-ageing creams and serums in our quest to remain young. How little it takes to exercise facial muscles and achieve skin tightening and firming of facial muscles. No Yoga mat required. It’s all possible while watching telly or waiting for the kettle to boil. All you need is the will to push your skin in the right direction in a series of strokes for a mere few minutes at the very least.

Conscious of the popular regard for maintaining one’s best face (take that any way you like), Pullman New Delhi Aerocity, on International Yoga Day organised a special session with Delhi-based, Vibhuti Arora, (House of Beauty India and Face Yoga), a Face Yoga expert who showed how little time it takes to exercise the face, how the direction of the strokes on the chin, cheeks, forehead and neck can tighten or loosen the skin. A mere half hour session can fuel the feel-good factor; imagine what even ten minutes every other day of the week would do.

In keeping with the wellness theme of the day, a fresh herb-infused light lunch at Pluck Cafe, from the home-grown produce on the premises of Pullman showcase what stands for mindful living.
