Yoga is the challenging study of consciousness itself, understanding one’s body, emotions, mind and beyond that, understanding one’s true self. As the world observes International Yoga Day on June 21, Indian embassies across 20 countries are holding an exhibition of photographs by Benoy K Behl, an Indian documentary filmmaker, art historian and photographer known for his work in documenting the art heritage of India and Asia. IIC Art Gallery in New Delhi too is featuring ‘Yoga India’s Gift to the World’ – an online exhibition of Behl’s work from 20 June to 5 July 2022 and a documentary film ‘Yoga for Health & Global Harmony’ shot across India and the world.’
Being screened in 50 countries on the Yoga Day, the film, which contains interviews with leading Yoga teachers like the late B K S Iyengar besides doctors, scientists and sociologists, is about the true meaning of Yoga and how it can transform the world. Behl has been constantly updating his photographic exhibition on Yoga, with further photography he has carried out around the world. Here are some glimpses of Behl’s pioneering work:
